Maxi Dressing

1 Flares1 Flares ×

The sun hasn’t set on summer yet and designer’s favorite spring/summer dress was the easy, breezy maxi. During the spring 2013 runway shows, maxis floated down the runways from the likes of Erdem, Oscar de la Renta, and even in Hedi Slimane’s debut collection for Saint Laurent. We can’t help but recognize how fitting maxi dresses are in our sunshine state, California, and how designers might have been influenced by the casual luxe vision that California has exported to the world. While some of the references were overt, other collections (think: Saint Laurent or Ralph Lauren) seem to nod directly at that SoCal style.

Whether you pair your to-the-floor dress with a feather-trimmed cape, a wide-brimmed hat, or a nude wedge, nothing says chic summer comfort like a maxi dress. And, forget the long, flowy silhouettes being just a one-off trend, the billowy maxi has become a wardrobe staple and continued to strike a chord with the fashion crowd’s style setters.

Regardless of where you are, be inspired and let us know your favorite!
